Wednesday Night Sailing July 19
by Joe Warren
Thursday, July 20
We actually sailed last night in good winds!! They
were about 10 kts. when we launched at 6:30, then eased to 8 then down to
6 when we came in at 8 pm. By 8:30 they picked up to 8 kts again. This
was at the high end of the marine forecast. Winds were mostly from the
east but shifted 15-20 degrees to the NE an SE from that. There was no
threat from thunderstorms.
When I got there Jim Graham had put in the 16' skiff and was preparing to
start Albacores. There was a good turnout of skippers. Russ was there
and took Nabeel; Pat McGee took Red Fehrle and Kristen Lopez; (haven't
seen her in a long time), Bob Astrove took Billy; and I took Tanya
Topolewski and her friend Joe (they came last week). Rob Tompkins was
also there sailing with his friend. He came in as we arrived. The
consensus of skippers was that they just wanted to sail, so that's what we
did. Next week will be only day sailing. We'll try the race
practice two weeks from yesterday.
