PRSA Is Considering Organizing an Optimist Fleet!

Our commodore, Jeff Storck, is in Wales, so I'm sending this on his behalf.

Do you have young children?  Are you are looking for a way to get your children hooked on sailing and sailboat racing?    Imagine what a great gift that would be!  It could be an activity that they would enjoy over a lifetime.

So how about an Optimist  Fleet?  Opti sailors are between 6 and 15 years old.   They love their Optis because it gives them control of a vehicle when they are still too young to drive, and it's a lot less dangerous than an ATV.

The PRSA Board has given Jennifer Parrow (niff1975@yahoo.com) and Rose Gentile the go ahead to gauge interest in starting an Opti Fleet at the WSM under the umbrella of PRSA.    If you want to learn more about Optis, go to www.usoda.org .   If you want to check out the prices of Optis and Prams, both new and used, go to www.teamvanguard.com .

So if you have some interest in this idea, could you send Jennifer an email with the following type of information:

1. Your level of interest in this idea, including whether you could volunteer some time once it gets going

2. Whether you already own an Opti or pram, and, if you do, whether you'd be willing to lend or sell it to other parents.  Or whether you'd consider buying a boat if a fleet were started.

3. Other questions that you have..

Thanks,
