2006 PRSA
Special Olympics Sailing Program
at the Washington Sailing Marina
When: Monday evenings, June 12 through July 17, 6
PM - 8 PM,
plus an end-of-season local regatta July 22, and a potential trip to St.
Marys MD July 29 - 30.
What we need: skippers and their boats to race in
the cove while taking Special Olympics Athletes on board as crew,
either one skipper and two experienced Athletes; or one skipper, one
safety officer, and one inexperienced Athlete. There are five
Athletes who have signed up, so we'll need 3 to 5 Lightnings , with
skippers, participating, although not every skipper/boat will need
to go out every Monday.
Commitments to date: Frank Gallagher and Joe Warren
have agreed to participate, and Drew Hudson has offered his boat, but the
boat will need a skipper. If we can get two more boats with skippers
plus a skipper for Drew's boat, we should be all set.
Remarks: This is a very well-organized program;
plenty of on-land support and supervision are available. Frank, Joe,
and Drew and others have given this program their generous support in
years past. They will tell you this is a worthwhile and rewarding
way to give to our community while enjoying our sport.
