Hornets Invade WSM!

I know the sailing marina tries to keep an eye out for wasp nesting
forming on boats/trailer but they cannot get them all. I got "nailed"
twice yesterday while pushing back my Albacore trailer . . . didn't even
see the small 2" honeycomb just under the "U" of my mast stand.
The key places I have seen them build nests in the past are under the
gunnels (lasers/albacores) and either in the trailer tongue cavity or
under the "U" of the mast stand on the trailer.
Give the front of your trailer a good whack with a long stick before you
reach down and grab the tongue to hook it to your car.
Bee safe (pun intended)

Spoke to the guys in the sailing marina office last
night, they said if you see hornets or wasps around your boat, or your
neighbors, go see them in the office and they will give you their can(s)
of wasp killer.
I heard a good cure for the bees and wasps in trailers: mothballs. they
don't like them. Roll a few into the trailer frame tubes and you will
basically evict all the bugs. I had a yellow jacket infestation in my back
yard last summer and dumped a few into the hole - the bugs were gone a
week later.
But the real solution is to simply USE YOUR BOAT several times a week.
