Local Conditions

A tidal current ebbs and flows but is relatively uniform across the course.  When the wind is from the NW, a small bluff on the shore can affect the wind as you sail into the windward mark (assuming it is placed in the vicinity).  The rise of land on shore can funnel the wind and create more pressure near shore.  That same land can bend the wind so be aware of possible persistent shifts.
