Camping at Leesylvania
|
The park will let us pitch our tents in the woods near the
pavilion. Very convenient! Bathroom: The pavilion has men’s and women’s rest rooms. If you walk across the parking lot there is another pair of rest rooms with a couple of showers each. Those are on the back of a marina store. Coming & going: The park does close at 9:00 p.m. and they put down the iron gate and lock it at that time. However, they will give us a key. So to get in and out after that time means calling the holder of the key -- whose name and number will be posted on the bulletin board at the pavilion -- and asking them drive to the gate to unlock it. Bottom line: we have to be judicious about coming and going after dusk. Food & supplies: The marina store sells ready to eat breakfast and lunch foods, i.e. egg sandwiches, danishes, and coffee for breakfast and deli sandwiches, hamburgers, pizza, and Pepsi products for lunch but no general grocery items. Ice is also available. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Their number is 703 590-2413. There is a Wawa gas station/stop & shop at Neabsco Creek Road & Route 1. They have a variety of simple grocery items and prepared foods. A Giant supermarket is 1.5 miles south of the park on Route 1, and a Super WalMart is 2.5 miles south on Route 1. Cooking: There are grills around the edge of the pavilion that we can use for cooking. A supply of self-starting briquettes will be available. Fires: No open fires are possible. Quiet time: We will ask for quiet between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Park Entry Pass When you bring your Lighting into the park, you will be given a pass to keep on your windshield while parked. This pass will also allow you to leave and enter the park during the regatta.
