POTOMAC RIVER SAILING ASSOCIATION

Over 400 participants will sail in the 8th Annual National Capital Area Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta on the historic Potomac River.  This is the largest sailing event in the Washington-area; as many as 100 PHRF and one-design sailboats will compete. ALL one design classes under 20 feet are welcome; separate starts for 5 or more boats. The races will be governed by the 'rules' as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
The race committee will determine the number of races each day.  1 race constitutes a regatta.  If there are 5 or fewer races, all will count.  Sailing instructions available at registration or the website.
Friday 6-8 pm: Reception hosted by Gary Jobson and catered by Outback Steak House ($10).  Saturday 8:30 am:  Coffee and donuts at registration.  Saturday 4-8 pm: Post race celebration with dinner, awards, silent auction, raffle, and music.
Trophies will be awarded for the Leukemia Cup (Saturday's races) and the President's Cup (Saturday and Sunday's races.)  These will be awarded to each member of the winning crews; 4 deep for 11 or more boats, 3 deep for 8-10, 2 deep for 5-7, and 1 for 1-4 boats.
Sailors will also compete for the perpetual
Normal C. Schaller Memorial Trophy.  It is awarded to the skipper with the best record in fleets of 10 or more starters in at least half the races.
